What we do
We’re a cultural archive and literary publisher of translated voices and stories from the Portuguese-speaking African diaspora.
Translations and works
All work on da terra 🌶️ including poetry, non-fiction, short stories and creative non-fiction are translated into English from Portuguese, and we aim to share the original text where possible.
We believe translating these documents is an important part of representing the lives and experiences of the Portuguese-speaking African diaspora in the English language.
All original interviews are recorded, transcribed and then translated from Portuguese to English by the editors.
Our editorial policy demands we do not italicise foreign words, for all of the reasons specified in this article.
